Malaga Airport
Malaga Airport is the main airport in lively southern Spain. According to AENA statistics, it was Spain's fourth most active airport in 2009 with over 14 million passengers, only surpassed by Madrid, Barcelona and Palma de Mallorca.
In March 2010 has been inaugurated the new terminal T3, which is divided into 3 departure zones corresponding to the 3 docks of the airport. Dock B is for traffic outside the EU and non-Schengen zone, Dock C for traffic from the European Union but non-Schengen zone and Dock D for the Schengen area (EU and non EU).
Malaga airport has undergone during the last five years a major expansion project, which will conclude by the end of 2010 with a new runway, two new exclusive highway accesses and a new railway station.
Passengers can enjoy in the new Terminal 3 a multitude of shops – duty-free, food, specialty items – and several dining options past the security checkpoints in Terminal 3. A large area of more than 10.000 square metres is dedicated to cater for all tastes with cafés, fast-food and exclusive restaurants and as well there is a great offer of international brands and duty-free shopping.
There are often temporary art exhibitions throughout the airport, as well as a permanent feature inside Terminal 1: the National Museum of Airports and Air Transport. This museum chronicles aviation and airport history in Spain, including some true rarities in its collection of over 1,500 pieces.
