Malaga Airport Connections

Train

Cercanias train Malaga

The Cercanias commuter train stops at the airport every half hour, and either goes to Fuengirola or Malaga.

The Malaga airport stop is located opposite Terminal 2: exiting the terminal on the Departures level, it is a short walk across the P-2 parking area. Be prepared with exact change, as the automated ticket machine sometimes requires it. Look for the Cercanias logo Cercanias in the airport and on the Renfe site, where you can find updated information about routes, timetables and prices.

Several of the more notable stops on the C1 line:

  • Plaza Mayor (Fuengirola direction) – major outdoor entertainment centre which offers shopping, restaurants, a movie theatre, bowling and more
  • Malaga-Maria Zambrano (Malaga direction) – Malaga's train station, which connects to other regional and national lines. This is the closest stop to the bus station.
  • Centro-Alameda (Malaga direction) – Downtown, the centro of Malaga, and also one of the endpoints of the C1 line
Station in Malaga Centre has been closed due to expansion works
No precise deadline has been set, but expected to take about a year beginning April 2008. The temporal beginning and end of the C1 line is now the Malaga train station, and the schedules have shifted a bit too.

Bus

EMT bus

The bus stop at the airport is located just outside the main arrivals hall and is clearly marked.

For service into Malaga's downtown area, No. 19 stops at the airport every half hour. Check routes of this and other city lines at EMT (Malaga transport company). Since this is an urban bus, it may leave the airport empty but fill with passengers en-route so be prepared if you have a lot of luggage. Cost per trip is around 1 Euro, and tickets can be purchased when entering the bus.

There is also a direct Portillo line from the airport to Marbella. Look for the coach marked MARBELLA near the main bus stop.

Visit the Malaga bus station for information on all other regional lines and to purchase tickets.

Taxi

Malaga Taxi

There are city taxis constantly waiting outside the main terminal, but beware: airport trips with this service are charged a fee on top of the normal rate, and there are additional charges for weekends, holidays and certain times of day.

We recommend the excellent transfer services provided by Malaga Taxi, where you can pre-book to avoid last-minute surprises. A fully licensed and insured driver will wait for you in the terminal to help with luggage. Only luxury-class vehicles are used, along with unbeatable rates. Visit today to make your reservation.
